How Straight Teeth Promote Better Oral Health
Straight teeth are indeed about more than smile beauty. When your teeth are aligned, brushing and flossing are more productive and efficient—there are fewer nooks for debris to collect.
Aligned teeth also support bite function, tooth longevity, jaw joint health, and aid in digestion.
How Invisalign Works: Step-by-Step
Step 1: Your Consultation with Dr. Cory McMahan
Our Invisalign dentist in Mooresville, NC, will conduct a thorough assessment, which includes a visual examination of your teeth and gums, x-rays, and a discussion to learn more about your smile goals. We can also determine the treatment timeline during this visit and discuss the cost of your Invisalign.
Step 2: The Treatment Phase
After we take impressions of your teeth and receive your aligners from Invisalign, you take your aligners home and start treatment. You wear each aligner for approximately two weeks before progressing to the next set of aligners. You continue this routine throughout the treatment timeline, visiting us periodically for monitoring. As the weeks go by, you’ll notice your teeth moving into straighter positions.
Step 3: The Retention Phase
After treatment, we create a custom retainer to help your teeth stay in their new, straight positions. Eventually, you’ll wear the retainer only at night. It’s important to follow your dentist’s instructions to avoid orthodontic relapse.
